Hello Card Featuring Peony Blossoms Press Plate by Alex Syberia Designs
Share
Hello, Peony lovers! A simple yet stunning cardmaking project.
A beautiful tutorial from Brenda at Alex Syberia Designs.
At CraftSource Market, we love sharing inspiration from the talented crafters - and today’s project features one of our absolute favourites: peonies! With their full, layered petals and soft romantic feel, they make a perfect focal point for handmade cards. Brenda recently shared a gorgeous “hello” card using the Peony Blossoms Press Plates, and we couldn’t resist bringing her project to our creative space. It’s a beautiful reminder that you don’t need overly complex techniques to make a card that really pops.
What You’ll Need:
- Peony Blossoms Press Plates
- BetterPress System (or a similar plate press system)
- Copic-friendly black ink
- Copic markers
- Good Day Quilted Rectangles Die Set
- Nested Scalloped Frames Die Set
- White and yellow cardstock
- Liquid glue
- Black ink (for splatters)
- Pink pearl embellishments
How It Came Together:
Brenda began by pressing both the floral and sentiment plates in the Peony Blossoms Press Plates, onto white cardstock using her BetterPress System and black Copic-friendly ink. She then brought the design to life using her Copic markers, taking care to layer and blend those peony petals beautifully.
The finished panel was die-cut with the largest rectangle from the Good Day Quilted Rectangles Die Set, then splattered lightly with black ink for added texture.
For the background, a bright yellow scalloped frame (cut with the Nested Scalloped Frames Die Set) was layered underneath to create a sunny pop of colour. The card base itself is a clever landscape fold, also scalloped — just leave the top edge of your die slightly over the fold when cutting.
To finish, Brenda added three pink pearls to highlight the sentiment and pull everything together. Simple, elegant, and full of charm!
